Summary:
The Hospital Services/Inpatient Acute RN will provide all aspects of care to patient.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Supervises all aspects of care to patient including, but not limited to, patient schedules documentation of nursing care provided.
Able to openly communicate with all staff requiring the services offered within the contract.
Responsible for ensuring that all dialysis procedures are performed as ordered by the physician to the patient.
Acts as a mentor to the Hospital Services staff (techs, and/or clerical as assigned for local program).
Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding patient care delivered.
Collaborates with the chronic staff as needed to complete required paperwork to assure that patients meet ESRD criteria.
Maintains documentation of treatments.
Participates in patient education.
Keeps informed of current concepts/principles and changes in the treatment of ESRD patients.
Recognizes and responds appropriately to difficult patient/family situations and emergency situations, such as life threatening illnesses.
Maintains a line of communication with appropriate DCI clinical staff and DCI Management.
Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
Knows and practices procedures related to hazardous waste disposal.
Knowledgeable of emergency, fire, disaster protocols as stipulated by hospital policy.
Knowledgeable of safe and effective infection control practices.
Actively supports and promotes appropriate attitudes and loyalty to management of both DCI and Hospital. Collaboration to enhance partnership is key to success of program.
Other duties as may be assigned as needs are identified.
Education and or
Experience:
Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program.
Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of the position.
Three to five years of dialysis experience preferred.
CNN/CDN certification preferred.
BCLS certification
ACLS certification if required by contracted hospital.

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with patients and other members of the team.
Strong organizational skills.
Must be a self-starter, who is responsible and accountable for his/her own actions, who can effectively problem solve, initiate action, and evaluate the outcome of decisions made.
Must be flexible in working with a variety of personalities.
Familiarity with computer programs (word, excel, powerpoint, etc.) preferred.
Language:
Able to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, financial reports and legal documents.
Able to write clearly, and communicate effectively to present information and respond to questions and/or complaints from physicians, management, patients and/or significant others, regulatory agencies, the general public and other members of the team.
Mathematical:
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Able to work with mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions. Able to understand mathematical operations such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and sampling theory.
Reasoning:
Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Able to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Able to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graph, etc.)
Able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Physical Demands :
While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to use hands and fingers to handle, feel and reach objects; stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop or kneel; effectively communicate and differentiate audible noises and visible sights; lift or move up to 50 pounds, vision abilities include close and distant color, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to move supplies (carts) and equipment (machines, portable water systems) and patients within the hospital environment. The physical demands described here are representative of the essential functions of this job. Work Environment:
The person performing this job works in close proximity to moving mechanical parts; noise level is moderate, and may be exposed to hazardous, chemicals, fumes or airborne particles. Since this is a healthcare environment, there is a possibility of exposure to infectious.ontagious diseases, needle sticks, and blood and body fluids. Further information regarding this position's specific work environment and exposure category will be provided during orientation.
